SCOPE of the Sri Swami Vivekananda Yuva Shakti Yojana (Mass Entrepreneurship) Project
Govt of Karnataka, recently launched the Swami Vivekananda Yuvashakti Yojane that aims at empowerment of rural youth of Karnataka. Under the Swami Vivekananda Yuvashakti programme, a self-help group of youth in the legal structure of Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) would be created in each of 28,000 villages with a seed money for ₹1 lakh for every group covering all the 6000 gram panchayats in Karnataka. The scheme would also aim at empowering about five lakh youth to take up self employment besides linking their JLGs with banks and markets. The State Lending Banking Committee (SLBC) with its 25 member banks are part of this project, having SBI as the Lead Bank. Upon the Rs 1 lakh grant the JLGs can avail Rs 5 lakh Loans for starting a business and creating livelihood within their localities.
The schemes will strengthen the State’s economy through comprehensive programmes so that it would help development of all communities and classes.
In this direction VKF has already initiated slew of activities to be undertaken as part this ambitious program of the Govt. of Karnataka in a big way as the official Technical and Implementation partner

The proposed SYSY Program Mass Entrepreneurship Project will be directly linked to the above ongoing programs of VKF where ever possible, clubbed with new initiatives as per the relevancy to the area along with aligning the existing VKF representatives and field force for better project implementation aspects.
VKF Geographic Indicators
Geographical Indications (GI) and appellations of origin are signs used on goods that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities, a reputation or characteristics that are essentially attributable to that place of origin. Being the fourth most popular destination for tourism in India, Karnataka has secured 46 Geographical Indication (GI) Tags on handicrafts, agricultural, manufactured and food products. All of these 46 GI Products will be involved in the project from their origins in the state and they are attached to the YHGs present in their respective areas.

Process of Approach
VKF approach towards this project implementation is illustrated in the below diagram. The product and services for a particular geography will be finalised based upon the culmination of baseline data comprising of availability of the GI tagged products, VKF’s ongoing programs, VKF agri business corridor, Products and Services in the geography, Existing YHGs in the same trade and their familiarity with the product and geography clubbed with Relevant Govt. Schemes for the products in the area.
