Sustainability Manager

We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Sustainability Manager with a strong background in the social impact sector and a deep understanding of government policies, schemes, and environmental regulations. The candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring sustainable development initiatives aligned with both organizational goals and national priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Design & Implementation
  1. Develop and execute sustainability strategies, policies, and programs in alignment with SDGs and government frameworks.
  2. Lead environmental and community impact initiatives across projects (energy, water, waste, biodiversity, etc.).
• Government Liaison & Policy Advocacy
  1. Act as a liaison with central and state government departments, regulatory authorities, and policy think tanks.
  2. Track, interpret, and ensure organizational alignment with applicable government schemes, ESG regulations, climate action plans, and sustainability guidelines (e.g., NAPCC, SAPCC, etc.).
  3. Draft proposals for government collaboration and funding under relevant schemes (e.g., MoEFCC, MNRE, MoRD, CSR Grants, etc.).
• Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  1. Create robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track the impact of sustainability initiatives.
  2. Prepare sustainability reports, ESG scorecards, and compliance documentation for stakeholders and funders.
• Stakeholder Engagement
  1. Collaborate with internal teams, NGOs, donors, and community leaders to co-design impactful interventions.
  2. Conduct awareness campaigns, capacity-building workshops, and policy dialogues with stakeholders.
• Research & Innovation
  1. Conduct sectoral research and stay updated on global and national sustainability trends.
  2. Recommend innovations in climate action, green economy, circular economy, and resource efficiency.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability/ESG roles within a social impact or development organization.
• Proven experience in preparing sustainability strategies, program design, and cross-sector collaboration.

• Qualification: Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainable Development, Social Work, Public Policy, or related field.
• Skills & Competencies:
  1. Strong understanding of Indian government policies, national missions (e.g., AMRUT, SBM, NAPCC, JJM), schemes, and regulatory landscape.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (knowledge of regional language is an asset).
  3. Ability to handle multiple stakeholders and represent the organization at policy forums and consultations.
• Preferred Skills:
  1. Certification in ESG, sustainability reporting (GRI, BRSR, etc.), or environmental compliance.
  2. Exposure to working with CSR programs, SDG tracking tools, or carbon footprint assessments.
  3. Strong data analysis and documentation skills.
